Seeing my girls devour books together is something I can’t quite explain. It delights me, to say the least.

Fern and Charlotte's Book Club for Kids

This week, I’m sharing their review of Frindle, by Andrew Clements, which was one of Fern’s picks. Fern (age 11) has been reading aloud to Charlotte (age 8).

When I’ve walked by and heard snippets of their book club fun, I’ve chuckled…and been tempted to stop and listen from the doorway. Fern really gets into the reading and expression!

Kids Book Review of Frindle - Snoring Scholar

Fern and Charlotte Review Frindle by Andrew Clements

Frindle is about a spirited child named Nick Allen. Nick is one who will always stir trouble up: not in a good way, not in a bad way.

Our favorite part was when (SPOILER!) Frindle gets put into the dictionary. The reason that we liked this part so much is because it made us feel like Nick had won the war with Mrs. Granger.

We really wouldn’t change much in Frindle because it was such a good book. The only thing we would change is how long the book is. It was pretty short, only 105 pages long, and a pretty quick read.

The Wow Factor was how well Andrew Clements wrote. It was so good. It really made us want to keep reading. Many nights we were up late reading because we wanted to know what was going to happen.

Best for grades 2-4.

“It was a very good book, only a little short.” — Fern, age 11

“A good entertaining book.” — Charlotte, age 8
