The Rachel Rosary, by Rev. Larry Kupferman, is beautiful and heartbreaking. It’s an intercessory prayer for victims of post-abortion syndrome, and in this, the month of the Rosary and respect life month, seems to be the time to share it with you and invite you to pray with me for an end to abortion and healing for those who have been involved in abortions.

The Creed
This statement of faith speaks of the divine origin of all life, and of the hope promised to all who rely on the statements proclaimed within it. We recite the Creed in order to affirm our identity as members of God’s family, the Church. Our oneness expressed in our faith connects us to one another, to God and to all God’s sons and daughters, living and dead.

I believe in God the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day he arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father; from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

Our Father
We acknowledge the fatherhood of God and offer this rosary for God’s children who suffer from Post-Abortion Syndrome.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary for Faith
We pray for an increase of faith for these children of God, so that they may come to believe in the mercy of God.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Hail Mary for Hope
We pray for an increase of hope for these children of God, so that they can look forward to the joy of redeemed lives. Hail Mary…

Hail Mary for Love
We pray for an increase of love for these children of God, that they will be able to accept the love of God and know true love in their hearts. Hail Mary…

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, it is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The First Sorrowful Mystery: The Agony in the Garden
Then they came to a place named Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be troubled and distressed. Then he said to them, “My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch.” He advanced a little and fell to the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour of death might pass him by; he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Take this cup away from me, but not what I will but what you will.” When he returned he found them asleep. He said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” Withdrawing again, he prayed, saying the same thing. Then he returned once more and found them asleep, for they could not keep their eyes open and did not know what to answer him. He returned a third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough. The hour has come. Behold the Son of Man is to be handed over to sinners. Get up, let us go. See, my betrayer is at hand.” (Mark 14:32-42)

We pray this decade, keeping in mind the agony that accompanies a decision to abort.

Our Father…

Ten Hail Marys
1. For the thirteen-year-old girl who is pregnant and afraid. Hail Mary…
2. For the teenager who is pregnant and afraid to tell her parents. Hail Mary…
3. For the young woman whose boyfriend abandons her when the pregnancy is discovered. Hail Mary…
4. For the young woman who, alone and afraid, gets “counseled” at the abortion clinic. Hail Mary…
5. For the woman who got pregnant to save a relationship, only to find that her lover has run away at the news. Hail Mary…
6. For the mother of a poor family who unexpectedly becomes pregnant and is advised that abortion is the “logical” choice for her family’s sake. Hail Mary…
7. For the couple who is pregnant with a child suspected of having a birth defect. Hail Mary…
8. For the man who fathers a child he wasn’t expecting and who believes that abortion will free him. Hail Mary…
9. For the doctor who advises a couple to abort their child and thinks he is helping. Hail Mary…
10. For the school counselor who believes that advising a student to abort her baby is saving the future. Hail Mary…

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, it is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
