When I saw a review copy Rediscover Advent, by Matthew Kelly in the envelope at the post office, I’ll admit I was excited. Kelly’s Rediscovering Catholicism was one of my favorite books from my 2008 reading and continues to be a book I recommend highly to others.
Rediscover Advent is arranged to be a companion to daily Scripture reading during Advent. Each day lists the readings and includes an excerpt from Scripture. There’s a reflection–taken from Rediscovering Catholicism, as it turns out–some meditation questions, and a prayer.
It’s an interesting way to introduce readers to Kelly’s earlier writing, and I was a bit surprised at how it all fit into the Advent framework.
This book will help you journey through Advent and grow in your enthusiasm for your Catholic faith. It’s not a huge commitment, and I can see it applying to a wide variety of people–everyone from busy corporate executives to up-to-their-ears-in-kid-stuff parents. It’s the perfect size to tuck into a briefcase or purse and take with you.
