A Handbook of Spiritual Perfection, by Philip Dion
Impatience as Rebellion
When we are impatient, we are rebelling against the will of God; we are resenting what God sends us; we are telling God that He has no right to give us this punishment because we do not deserve it. The truth is, of course, we deserve infinitely more. Thus, if we are humble, we recognize that we merit any suffering that comes to us, and that nothing we can suffer on this earth can ever fully repair the damage we have done or the offense that we have given to God by our deliberate sin.
