Dear God,

Thanksgiving is my theme this morning. Thank you for protecting Bob and for letting the brake line break in the best way – out of harm’s way! As I was driving to get him yesterday, I marveled at how very blessed we are by your providence, by your love, by your hand at work in our lives. I couldn’t play “what if” too long (“What if it had happened on the highway on his way to school?” “What if we had all been in the truck and in a major accident?” “What if someone had died?”), because it took my focus off the blessing. I can only come to you, Father, and thank you for the gift of the angels who keep us safe. I can only sit here with my head in your lap, the little girl who has so far to go before I’m all grown up, and be thankful for the hand that strokes my temple and keeps us safe.
