The highlight of my week: meeting up with Julie Davis of Happy Catholic fame.
No, I didn’t leave Ohio.
No, she didn’t leave Texas.
This is IN REAL LIFE in a great new way, I’m telling you. Lunch with a friend in Texas, no plane involved. 🙂
Yes, we love technology. And yes, we’ll be doing it again real soon! 🙂
You might think that a huge, 100-year-old maple tree is a thing of beauty and grace. You might think that it would take a heckuva storm to bring it down. You might think that it would be a loud crash.
The tree in question came down this week, snapped an electrical line, and it did so on a morning when we had NO STORMS.
And we did NOT HEAR IT.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Because at least one person who reads this blog regularly will appreciate a picture, here you go.
And a closer look:
Check out the base of this bad boy:
You can’t tell it from the pictures, but we have termites to thank for this collapse of shade.
And the mancub has the termites to thank for the six ladder trucks and the two firetrucks that were all RIGHT THERE FOR HIM TO WATCH. He’s STILL asking when they can come back.
But little does he know that when we get the tree all cleaned up it will be Machinery Central in a whole new fun way!
And in other news:
Now, I may be the only one who cares about this, but that kid (#2) has had her entire life pretty much chronicled here. How could I leave off the cuteness that is the missing two front teeth?
If you’re not following the Lawn Chair Catechism series at CatholicMom.com, let me tell you this: YOU ARE MISSING OUT. BIG TIME. The book is great, but the conversation that I’ve read (and I haven’t been able to read it all, sadly) has been GREAT.
No time right now? Yeah, I HEAR YOU. Bookmark it and come back to it (we’re not deleting anything when it’s “over”). OSV has extended the $10+free shipping offer on Forming Intentional Disciples, though, so now is definitely the time to buy it.
In other writing:
- We’ve started a Catholic Blogger interview series as part of Tech Talk at CatholicMom.com This week, Stuart Dunn was the
- On Tuesdays, I post my weekly Book Talk post at CatholicMom.com as part of Book Notes over there. This week, I highlighted some really amazing books. It’s been a great time to be reading!
And wow, I haven’t really done a whole lot of other writing, have I? If you want to keep up with it, I do send it through to my Sarah Reinhard Twitter feed and also share it on my author Facebook page.
With that, I’m off to enjoy some books… 🙂 Enjoy your weekend!
